Scary and Realistic Pumpkin Sculptures

There's no denying that the most famous fruit of the month is pumpkin.  Yes, a pumpkin is a fruit.  Pumpkins are always associated with Holloween and kids and kids at heart enjoy pumpkin the most when they are carving scary faces on it to be displayed outside their house.  But there is this one guy, Ray Villafane, who makes scary and realistic pumpkin sculptures in just two hours.  Take a look at his creations.

Scream, I say!

Frankenpumpkin.

What are you thinking Mr. Pumpkin?

Secrets to a Long Lasting Marriage

Photo from here.

I would like to quote this article from Psych Central about the secrets to marriage that stands the test of time.  I completely agree to what they said, here are those.

1. Commit to the commitment - Marriage is not just about signing a contract.  It is a decision to be made by two mature individuals.  They will commit to make the commitment last.

2. Give it all you've got - With commitment comes a hundred percent effort in maintaining the relationship.  It is not about who gives much or who gives less.  It is about giving 100 percent.

3. Bring a whole person to the marriage - Marriage is composed of two whole individuals who nurture each other.

4. Make time for each other - I think most marriages fail on this 4th secret most of the time.  Make time for yourself and for our partner.  It is nice to catch up on each others' lives, listen to each others' stories and laugh with the silliest day's happenings.

5. Be a team - The moment you sign a contract, you are also submitting your name to what should be the greatest team on the planet.

6. Learn how to engage in friendly fighting - This is an inevitable facet of marriage.  You will argue about things because you have different points.  It is absolutely normal but be sure to focus on the current and do not dig up old issues.  Listen to one another and resolve the issue once and for all.  Once the issue has been settled, agree to never dig it up and use it against each other.

7. Don't sweat the small stuff - Marriages that lasted to decades agree to one thing--they don't dwell on the small stuff and make it larger than what it really is.  We all have flaws and acceptance of these flaws is one of the things you agreed upon the moment you agreed to marry the person.

8. Do sweat small stuff - On the other hand, you yourself should know these flaws and give effort to be a better person.  It doesn't mean that once he or she has accepted your flaws, you will not do anything about it anymore.

9. Follow the 'golden rule' - Do not do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you.  It is that simple.  If you show love and devotion, it is love and devotion that you will get.  If you show indifference and distrust, it is indifference and distrust that you will get.

10. Be each other's greatest fan - Come on, who doesn't want to receive words of encouragement from one's partner?  We all want to feel the champion or number one in any one's life.

11. Make yourself appealing - Be beautiful inside and out.  Make efforts to be beautiful to the eyes of your partner to keep the fire burning.

12. Respect each other's families - You can't please every body but that doesn't mean you should lose respect from those people who doesn't care.  Just think of it this way, if it weren't for his or her family, your partner will never be born.

13. Make special days special - Remember the special days like your partner's birthday, your anniversary, your first date, the date you moved to a new house--all the dates that are important to both of you.  Reminisce those days, relive the moments and you'll find yourself falling in love with your partner all over again.

When was the last time... you looked for a number in yellow pages?

Photo from here.
When was the last time you referred to a directory such as Bell's or Yellow Pages?  I could not remember either.  Printing old school directories is a dying business now that every one refers to the internet to search for people, addresses, numbers and all other things.  Printing humongous directories such as these that end up in either the attic or garbage is a waste of resources.

Save the trees people.

Selfish Coffee Mug

Office mates can be nasty at times... using other people's personal stuff and not returning them.  Crime happens usually in the pantry and the most common victims are coffee mugs.  Lock Cup has ingeniously designed this cup with a hole that only the true owner can use because he has the stopper.  This is one selfish coffee mug.  Sorry sneaky office mates, buy your own cup.

Tarte 'The Jewelry Box' Limited Edition Makeup Palette

I officially added this Tarte 'The Jewelry Box' makeup palette in my Christmas wish list.  For only $52 at Sephora, you get thirty two eye shadows, eight lip glosses, a bronzer, shimmering powder, five long-wearing eye liners AND a detachable necklace.  Yes, a necklace that you can wear!

The palette is stored inside a beautifully made box so you are sure that your makeup will be safe from dust and moist.  Another great thing about this palette is that it does not contain chemicals like parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes and fragrances, petrochemicals and phthalates.  Everything inside is made with only the natural ingredients.

The Secret

I am not yet finished reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne but I think I am starting to become a believer.  The secret is the Law of Attraction.  Think bad things and bad things will happen to you.  Think good things and good things will happen to you.  It is just that simple.  I will get back to reading the book before I proceed with Blogging in Business.

New Books!

I bought three new books today.  Just random books that I saw in the bookstore that I think will give me my needed information.

Yes, the title is a spoof of Dan Brown's Angels and Demons but it's just the title that was spoofed, inside the book are the author's stories about pop culture that are presented with humor.

I also bought The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.  It was actually my mom who recommended me the book.  I bet most of you already know about The Secret... at least the book.

The last is Blogging for Business by Shel Holtz and Ted Demopoulos.  Since I have been blogging for almost a year now, I think it is time for me to know the blogging secrets and how I can use it in the business that I am planning to put up.

Justin Bieber Nail Polish???

Seriously?

I wouldn't mind Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus launching nail polishes, they're girls who normally color their nails in pink or black... but, Justin Bieber?  WTF?!

My niece will be shocked and she'd probably be the first one to buy her very own.  She's such a Bieber fan that she cried about the ONN news that Justin Bieber is actually a 51-year old pedophile.  Haha!

What's Bieber trying to prove?

Justin Bieber hair gel sounds more appropriate to me than Justin Bieber nail polish.  Do you think he has glittered nail polish, too?  OMG!  I want him to personally put it on my nails.

America in Color

I know this is stupid but when I was a kid, I thought that before I was born everything was in black and white.  Maybe it's the effect of watching old films in black and white too often that made me think of it that way.  Maybe it was just my make-believe story... or maybe...  whatever.

That's Huckleberry Finn with Tom Sawyer on the photo.  Not.  They're just the two persons that I thought of when I saw this photo.  It couldn't be Tom because Mark Twain published the book in 1876 while Huckleberry was published in 1884.  This was taken on June 1940.

I stumbled upon this colored picture of two boys fishing in a bayou in Schriever, Louisianna. This is just one of the few colored images that captured the effects of Depression in the US.  This photo and other photos that you will see on the link are properties of the Library of Congress.

It Is Hard To Be A Model Part 2

This model is really professional and I applaud her for that.  If I were to wear that box coat by Maison Martin Margiela, I swear I will never make it to the end of the runway without laughing or perhaps I couldn't even make it out of the runway at all to model that really weird coat/box.  I bet no one would want to be caught dead wearing this coat, not even at home.

This is proof again that it is really hard to be a model.
